Cinnamon Eats – A Year in Review of Paleo Food and More

So here we are almost at the end of another year… talk about time flying huh! I thought I would take this moment to share with you a year in review of what’s happened here at Cinnamon Eats in 2013. Going through my posts from the start of the year until now felt like taking a trip down memory lane. A lot has happened in this past year and being able to share it here on this blog with all of you has been amazing!

Let’s begin shall we….

At the start of the year I wrote my review on the documentary ‘The Perfect Human Diet’ and had a lot of you commenting on that post. If you haven’t watched it yet I recommend you do so.

Then in February I made the BIG announcement that my husband and I were moving to England after having spent almost 2 years living in Michigan, U.S.A. I can’t believe that we have almost been living in England for a year (although currently we are in Australia visiting family). Moving countries twice has had its difficult moments, but amidst all the craziness I’ve had an amazing husband there always by my side. We’ve created so many memories during our time living overseas and I’m sure 2014 has a lot more in store for us!

The move to England also prompted me to finally start my own Facebook page. After ummming and ahhhing about it for so long I finally decided to take the plunge and I’m glad I did! With over 1,000 of you there now I feel like hey maybe what I’m sharing here is being accepted and noticed around the world :). If you haven’t checked out my page, you can check it out here.

2013 was also the year where I shared some delicious paleo desserts/treats. I’m not a big baker or dessert maker (oh look I just rhymed!) but when I do make something I make sure it tastes DAMN good!

Some of my most popular desserts this year have been my:

Rose Water, Saffron & Pistachio Ice-Cream

Spiced Sweet Potato Mousse

Paleo Horchata Jelly

Cinnamon & Cardamom Pear Upside Down Cake

and Spiced Butternut Squash Fries (although this one isn’t as much of a treat recipe as the ones above).

I also featured a number of guest posts here this past year and was also happy to have guest posted for some of my other fellow bloggers!

Arsy from Rubies and Radishes shared with us about her blog, how she started on her paleo journey, her tips for those wanting to start/just having started the journey and she also shared with us a recipe from her first cookbook*.

Rachel from Grok Grub shared her recipe for ‘Spicy Stuffed Peppers’ which looked (still looks) absolutely delicious!

Then Alisa over from Paleo in PDX shared an amazing curry recipe

Ashley from Craving4More shared her recipe for ‘Deconstructed Fig & Apricot Sausage with Greens’.

And Debra from The Saffron Girl shared this delicious recipe for ‘Lamb Kefta Tagine with Zucchini‘.

As I mentioned above, I also had the opportunity to guest post for some of these bloggers as well. Here’s some of what I shared this year…

Persian Spiced Lamb with Salad Shirazi

Paleo Persian Jeweled Rice

Pistachio & Fig Panna Cotta

and Sweet Potato Apple Fennel Hash

2013 was also the year where I shared more of myself on the blog rather than just sharing recipes. I wrote this post about how I perceive Paleo and what it means to me personally, and got a great response both on the blog post itself and on my Facebook page. I also shared this fun post which shared with all of you more of who I am, which was inspired by my friend Alisa from Paleo in PDX.

This year I also had some of my recipes shared by a couple of the BIG names in the Paleo/Primal/Real Food world! Having my recipes shared by these people and having their followers/readers see my recipes was a great honour!

Mark’s Daily Apple shared two of my recipes in the ‘Weekend Link Love’ editions. You can view those editions here and here. The recipes shared were my Pork Loin Steaks with Morello Cherry Sauce and my Apple & Tarragon Meatballs.

Liz from Cave Girl Eats shared my recipe for Slow Cooker Spicy Chicken with Grilled Peaches and Balsamic Reduction in one of her email Mondays which you can sign up to on her blog (I definitely recommend doing it!)

This year I also branched out in the social media world and am now sharing my recipes, musings and photos on Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

All in all it’s been a great year and I want to thank all of you for being part of Cinnamon Eats and sharing this journey of paleo/real food eating with me. I hope to bring you lots more new recipes, guest posts, giveaways and other content in 2014!

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!
