Coconut Milk Recipes Round Up

Roundup of coconut milk recipes

If there’s two things the Paleo/Primal community is obsessed with it’s bacon and coconut milk…just kidding… kind of 😉

Honestly though dairy is what is known as a ‘grey-area’ food due to the fact that many are intolerant to lactose and until you remove it from your diet for at least 30 days you won’t know how it affects you. Of course whether or not you choose to include dairy in your diet is for you to decide, but for those who can’t coconut milk can be a life saver!

What is Coconut Milk?

Coconut milk is derived from the white flesh of the coconut, which is then blended with water. You can easily make your own coconut milk at home… this recipe will show you how. Not only is making your own coconut milk simple to do but also much more cost effective than the store bought stuff, plus a lot of the coconut milk that is sold is stores is full of not so great ingredients.

Of course there are some brands of coconut milk that you can buy in stores or online without those nasty ingredients. Some that I have used in the past are this one and this one.

What is the difference between Coconut Milk and Coconut Water?

Coconut milk as explained above is when the flesh of the coconut is blended with water to create a creamy liquid. Coconut water on the other hand is the clear liquid that is taken from the coconut once it is cracked open. To find out more about the differences between coconut milk and coconut water go here.

What is Coconut Milk Used For?

As you’ll soon see in this collection of coconut milk recipes, this non-dairy alternative can be used for everything from making smoothies, to curries and even desserts like cakes and homemade chocolates. It really does make a great substitute for regular dairy milk.

So let’s get to it!

Below you will find a collection of paleo/primal friendly recipes from yours truly and other amazing food bloggers, that feature coconut milk. From savoury dishes and coconut milk based drinks to sweet treats and desserts.
