I’m going to start this post by saying THANK YOU! I realised yesterday that I’ve reached 100 followers on my blog and while that may not seem like a huge number I am grateful to those who have decided to follow this little blog of mine and are sharing in this journey with me. So once again THANK YOU for following
and I’ll do my best to continue sharing my food journey (and beyond) with you 🙂

Ok enough with the sentimentalities 😉 Yesterday marked a new beginning for me… a new beginning without coffee! Yes I’ve been on this roller coaster ride with coffee for a while now. I’ll stop for a while and then jump right back on and each time I jump on I know I need to get off but I don’t. So yesterday, after already having had my morning cup of coffee I decided enough was enough and I went shopping and bought myself a whole bunch of greens. Things like spinach, kale and mixed baby greens so that from now on each morning in place of my morning coffee I can make a green smoothie instead.

Since we’re on the topic of food (aren’t we always over here) I made a Persian inspired dinner last night. Well actually it was more inspired by my dad and his amazing skills at making kebabs Iranian style! Kebabs or kababs come in many different forms in Persian cooking and according to Wikipedia there are 29 different kebab variations in Iran (there’s probably more!) Paleo Butternut Squash & Apple Muffins

So I told you in one of my latest posts that I’ve been baking a lot lately and just to prove my point here is another recipe I made recently.

Actually it’s just one recipe with an ingredient added. The original recipe comes courtesy of Paleoinpdx… as soon as I saw the recipe I knew it was something I HAD to make and seriously it is one of the BEST things I’ve ever eaten! Here’s a photo I took of the first batch I made… yep it’s one of those recipes you can’t make just once!

Joe is now obsessed with them…. after the first batch were all eaten (which didn’t take long) he kept asking me when I was going to make more. That’s when I decided to make another version with added diced apple.

These muffins have the most amazing cinnamon flavour which as you know is my FAVOURITE!

Last night at work I was caught in a bit of a situation. As we were closing up the kitchen for the night after the cooking class, one of the other girls working there was telling the chef how her friend is on a Paleo diet. Now I really DON’T like the term ‘diet’ but that’s not what bothered me.

The chef asked her what she meant by Paleo as she had never heard of it before. This person went on to say that Paleo means that you only eat meat and vegetables and nothing else. She also said that her friend who is following this ‘diet’ doesn’t eat grains which means he is probably malnourished…!!! [Read more…]
