A few years ago I stumbled upon a recipe for chia pudding and ever since then I’ve loved making and eating them. I don’t have them on a regular basis, but every now and then I get a craving for one and make a small batch. I recently made an apple chia pudding and topped it with some kiwi fruit. Kiwi fruit is in season right now and I love the taste of it. The apple and the kiwi in this chia pudding work perfectly since the apple is sweet and the kiwi is kind of tart. [Read more…]
Ginger Lime Chia Fresca
About a week ago I decided to cut out coffee for a few weeks, I don’t think there is anything wrong with coffee as long as you tolerate it but I felt like I was relying on it a bit too much and wanted to give my body a break. So I’ve been trying some alternatives to coffee in the morning, like Chai, Rooibos, Earl Grey other herbal tea varieties and things like warm water with ACV or lemon juice and a little honey to sweeten.
I recently came across a drink called ‘Chia Fresca’ and while I had head of people adding chia seeds to water and drinking it, I didn’t realise this drink had an actual name. Turns out that this drink hails from Mexico! When I saw this post I knew I wanted to try it out for myself so I came up with this quick and easy to make ‘Ginger Lime Chia Fresca’. This drink is nice and refreshing and a great pick me up in the morning! [Read more…]
Almond Banana Smoothie
I just made this smoothie – Actually I’m drinking it while typing this post.
It’s been a while since I made a Green Smoothie, notice how I left the green part out of the title (aka the spinach). I didn’t want to scare you away with the word spinach, although you can’t taste it at all, it just gives the smoothie its pretty green colour. 🙂
Almond Banana Smoothie
Ingredients:
- Handful of banana (I used frozen banana pieces that I had in the freezer).
- Handful of spinach (you can use frozen or fresh).
- 1.5 cups almond milk (or milk of your choice).
- 5 dates (I used medjool – make sure you pit).
- 1 tsp cinnamon.
- 1 tsp vanilla extract.
- 1 Tbsp chia seeds.
Method:
Place all ingredients into a high powered blender, starting off with the milk and blend!
There’s something about green smoothies – They really give you a big hit of energy just when you need it!
