Lemon Tarragon Herbed Butter

Plate of lemon tarragon herbed butter

I debated whether to share this recipe or not, I mean I have a feeling most people would already know how to make herbed butter but at the same time maybe some people don’t? In any case I thought it would be a good one to feature as a recipe here since herbed butter is so versatile! To be honest it had been a while… actually a long time since I had made it myself but since I was planning on making a whole chicken in the slow cooker and wanted to use this in there, I decided to share it with you. The recipe for the chicken will be coming up as well!

So what is herbed butter? Basically it’s taking a softened block of butter and adding in fresh herbs to it and mixing together. Some people also use dried herbs but I like using fresh. What you use is up to you and depends on what you’re going to pair it with. I also like adding lemon zest or orange zest as well to really liven up the flavours! Once you’ve made your herbed butter you can use it for a number of things like cooking vegetables in it or adding it to some baked potatoes or adding some on top of a well cooked piece of steak… YUM! Gut Healing Herbal Tea Gummies

Ever since I gave up drinking coffee (for the most part!) I’ve been drinking more and more herbal teas. I have a large collection of different teas at home so there’s never a chance that I might get sick of having just one kind! I usually drink a cup in the morning and sometimes I might have a mint tea after one of my meals or drink some chamomile tea before bed. In the mornings I usually drink Rooibos tea, which is a great alternative to coffee. Anyway I was recently flipping through my copy of this book which I LOVE and recommend for anyone living this paleo/primal lifestyle… especially for the newbies! It had been a while since I had many any of the recipes in the book (when you’re a food blogger working on your own recipes can take up time!), but when I was flipping through it recently and saw a recipe for tea gummies I definitely wanted to try it out! Butternut Squash and Beef Chili Stew

It’s been a while since I shared a recipe! As you can tell I’ve been busy redesigning the blog! It took a while to get here… who knew changing up a blog would take up so much time! Well at least I learnt some things along the way, like the fact that getting someone else to redesign your blog can set you back hundreds, even thousands of dollars! No thanks! I still had to pay something towards the redesigning but it was worth it! I’m hoping to add a few add-ons here and there but for now I’m happy with the result.

In other news there’s just over 3 weeks left until we’re off home to Australia! The closer it gets to us going the more excited I become! I’m wondering how much Melbourne has changed and I’m looking forward to visiting all our old hang outs and of course seeing family! I’m trying to get some guest post bloggers on board for while I’m away to be able to still share posts with you but not sure how I’ll go. No idea how much blogging time I’ll get over there but I will hopefully still have the Facebook page going!

Anyway this recipe I’m sharing with you today I made a couple of weeks ago and have been waiting to share it since! It’s the perfect dish for this Autumn weather! I’ve been using the homemade chili spice seasoning in this recipe in other dishes as well, one of my favourite ways to use it is brushed on chicken thighs which I then bake in the oven. SO GOOD! Slow Cooker Spicy Chicken with Grilled Peaches

Slow cooker spicy chicken with grilled peaches

Is it just me or does it feel like the warm weather just flew by in a flash? I’m not sure how it is where you live but it’s definitely getting much colder in our part of England! I should be grateful though for the fact that we had a pretty decent summer by English standards this year… and I am, grateful.

With Autumn (Fall) upon those of us living in the Northern hemisphere, it’s time to switch up those light summer recipes into the cosy warm recipes that Autumn has to offer. When we were living in Michigan, this was my favourite season. I loved seeing the leaves on the trees change colour and all that was involved in the Season over there. Americans definitely go out all out when it comes to these things, much more than the Australians and the English as I’ve seen so far! I LOVED all the pumpkins everywhere during this time in the States… I’m glad I had a chance to experience that! [Read more…]
