Here we are back at the start of another week! I hope you all had a nice weekend! Joe and I had a great one… first up on Saturday morning we did our usual morning gym session then did our grocery shopping for the week and after that we had a guest visit us, it was Joe’s brother-in-law from Australia who was here for work in London and caught the train down to visit us for the day! It was great to see him and I was so happy that Joe got to see someone from his family after almost 3 years! It’s a shame he couldn’t stay longer but we had a chance to show him around our town and sit down for a coffee break at one of the local cafes :). On Sunday, we once again hit the gym in the morning then home to have something to eat, I prepared dinner by making the ‘Beef Casserole’ from Rubies and Radishes cookbook ‘The Paleo Slow Cooker’ which turned out to be very delicious! After that I worked on a dessert that I’m going to be sharing as a guest post on Craving4More blog soon, which I will link to over here when it goes up! The dessert was AMAZING… if I do say so myself! You’ll just have to wait and see! After doing some other household tasks that needed to be tackled we decided to go explore the castle grounds (in case you didn’t know we live right opposite a castle!), we ended up getting to see the birds they keep there for one of their shows… an American Eagle, Vultures, Owls, a baby Condor and some other bird I forget the name of! At first I thought they were fake but then they started moving and making noise and I thought WOOOOWWW this is crazy! After we explored the castle for a bit we ended up going for our usual walk which is about 8km/5miles and usually it’s fine but yesterday because of the gym session in the morning my legs were on fire and I really struggled on that walk! I was so sore after that, I was just ready to plop on the couch and watch Downton Abbey! [Read more…]
Pork Red Curry (Guest Post)
HAPPY FRIDAY! Here we are at the end of another week and I’ve got another excellent guest post for you today! This one comes from my wonderful friend Alisa over at Paleo in PDX. Alisa and I connected via our blogs a while back and since then through common interests and similar likes/dislikes we’ve cultivated a friendship, I truly hope that we get to meet in person some day, wherever in the world that may be.
When Alisa and I got to talking about her guest post I asked her if she would do a curry recipe for my readers. To be honest with you I’ve never made a curry in my life! I know that might come as a shock to a lot of you but I’ve just never eaten it… well that’s a lie! I have eaten it before but only a few times and each time I didn’t really like it so I guess that’s why I stayed away. Alisa on the other hand loves making and eating curries and since I’m already a HUGE fan of her other recipes, I trusted that she would create a delicious recipe to share with all of you. I’m going to take the leap and make this recipe she’s sharing here… who knows I might end up liking curries after all!
I’ll leave you with Alisa now 🙂 [Read more…]
Paleo Persian Jeweled Rice
I’m SUPER excited and honoured to be sharing this recipe over on Rubies and Radishes today! Head on over and read the post! 🙂
Also tomorrow is moving day for us into our new place! I’m very excited about moving but not so excited about all that’s involved! It will probably be a bit quiet on the blog front until we’re settled in but I’ll still be updating the Facebook page.
Rubies and Radishes (Guest Post)
Happy Friday! Today I’ve got a very special guest post for you with the wonderful Arsy of Rubies and Radishes! Arsy and I connected via our blogs and she has truly become one of my favourite go to paleo bloggers and she’s also just super sweet! I recently asked Arsy if she would be interested in doing a Q&A type guest post for me and she kindly said yes! So get to know the face behind Rubies and Radishes… enjoy!
Welcome Arsy! Before we get into the questions can you give Cinnamon Eats readers a brief background of who you are?
Sure! First of all I want to say thank you Naz for inviting me here today. I am a huge fan of your blog and I’m excited to connect with your readers. What can I tell you? I’m Armenian, my parents are from Iran. I grew up in a very traditional culture with lots of traditional food. In my teens I believed all the media hype and thought my parents lifestyle was unhealthy, so I adopted a vegetarian diet which caused a whole host of health problems for me. I spent the later half of my 20s trying to understand them and recover.
Your blog, Rubies and Radishes (p.s. I LOVE the name) is focused on living a paleo lifestyle. Can you tell us how you came to paleo yourself and what has come out of this journey for you so far?
I started Crossfit in 2008. Shortly after some friends and trainers at the gym started talking about the paleo diet. When they described this “caveman” diet I thought it sounded strange. But being an information seeker I picked up Dr. Cordain’s book to read up on it and instantly a light bulb went off in my head and I understood the cause of all of my health problems.
